Our menopause and mind sessions are always a space to connect and share the trials and triumphs of our menopause journey. This session will offer a slightly different way to connect and share using the structure of a circle gathering.
Circle is a modern version of what humans have done for centuries, gathering round a circle traditionally with a fire to tell our stories together. We don’t have a fire (maybe just a candle or two) but you’re invited to sit, connect, share and gain power from each other here. This circle is a gentle, slowed down space where we take a moment out of the everyday and are present together.
It’s a space where we simply listen, share and be heard without any judgement. The world (and especially the internet) is full of noise of how we should make ourselves better – gummies to buy, productivity to improve, health to optimise, tiks to tok, doom to scroll. Not to mention dealing with all responsibilities of life – work, family, systems or whatever that is for you. Add in all the things that menopause can thrown at us and no wonder we can feel overwhelmed, isolated and alone. Humans are a social species, we’re not designed to deal with this on our own.
What if we could gather together and create a space where we simply listen to each other for a bit?
No advice, no ‘fixing’ – just a willingness to try connecting together more deeply and seeing what emerges. Somewhere you can come just as you are – joyous, frazzled, proud, defeated, lonely, unsure, whatever – or a whole washing machine swirl of all that together – and share as much or as little as you want. It’s space where you can listen deeply and be heard and judgement, expectation and the washing up can be left at the door.
Something magic can happen when we share together in circle. It can be a place for laughter, tears and maybe both together. Our stories can resonate deeply with others, even if we’ve had really different experiences. The shared bond of humanity of knowing ‘it’s not just me’ is powerful. It can be a place of gentle revolution, restoration and connection.
As the Spring Equinox approaches, we’ll create a nurturing space where we see what’s emerging for us as the sun starts to return.
The event will be run by our facilitator and board member, Susannah Broadbridge. Her passion for circle work comes from seeing the transformative way telling our stories in places where they are truly listened can empower us. She has been holding spaces for individuals and groups in different ways for years. After finding onnection, joy and healing in attending circles to support this work, she’s recently completed training in circle facilitation with Sister Stories
